Giorgio Armani Fragrances: Acqua for Life 2012

Acqua for Life – Giorgio Armani

A powerful drop of water is enough to create a world
and dissolve the night.
Gaston Bachelard

Giorgio Armani is proud to renew his ‘’ACQUA FOR LIFE’’ Challenge in 2012 to stimulate greater public awareness about environmental and developmental problems, by promoting access to safe water for children and their communities in poor countries.
The Aqua for Life Challenge is inspired, and linked to the exclusive fragrances Aqua di Gio for men and Aqua di Gioia for women, which are both associated with water, and closely connected with a perception of nature’s bounty, freshness, and environmental harmony. Acqua for Life’s objective is to provide millions of litres of drinking water to populations without any access to it. Water that is essential for drinking, eating, guaranteeing a minimum of hygiene and maintaining one’s health. The goal is commensurate to the challenge: offering, this year, a minimum of 40 million liters of drinking water to populations in need.
Giorgio Armani Fragrances: Acqua for Life 2012

As of March 1, 2012, every bottle of fragrance sold will generate a donation of 100 liters of drinking water per year to children and their communities. The participants will then be invited, through a personal code indicated on the outer carton of the chosen fragrance, to extend their action online. To get involved in the Acqua For Life challenge, one can also visit facebook.com/giorgioarmanifragrancesindia

TARGET
Because they are the most vulnerable to water-borne diseases and it is their future that is taken hostage by this uncertain water supply, children will be the primary beneficiaries of the donations collected by the “Acqua For Life” campaign. Armani has committed  to continue support in 2012 of new Green Cross International ‘Smart water for Green Schools’ infrastructure projects to collect and distribute every year at least 40 million litres of water.
Mr Armani says ‘’ I am always very aware of problems connected to the environment and in particular to water, an element I love very much since it is regenerative, precious and essential to life’’.

ACTION PLAN
In 2012 the ‘’Aqua for Life’’ challenge , a solidarity campaign on a global scale and with a strong focus on the Internet, is committed to continuing and extending support to Green Cross  International’s efforts to improve access to safe drinking water. GCI’s Smart water for Green Schools programme provides water to communities where access to safe water is limited. The 2012 challenge will inform widely on the global water crisis and, through the strength of the Armani brand, serve as a catalyst to spread the message on a global scale. The Armani Group also supports for the third year UNICEF’s Tap Project in the United States, which funds water projects in poor countries.

SUCCESS OF THE 2011 CAMPAIGN
The Acqua for Life Challenge 2011 benefitted 10 communities located in the Eastern region of Ghana. A total of approximately 27,000 people living in 16 communities including 3,500 children received access to safe drinking water as a result of the campaign.

MORE ON:
GREEN CROSS INTERNATIONAL
Green Cross International (GCI) is a leading independent non- profit and non-governmental organisation. It works to address the inter-connected global challenges of security, poverty and environmental degradation through a combination of high level advocacy and local projects. GCI is headquartered in Geneva and has a growing network of national organizations in over 30 countries.

Mr. Giorgio Armani along with Green Cross International has launched the ‘Acqua for Life Challenge’ wherein he has committed to promote access to drinking water worldwide to populations without any access to it, primarily children.

Centered around the world of Acqua di Gio and Acqua di Gioia, two fragrances inherently in harmony with this theme, every bottle sold will generate a donation of 100 litres of drinking water per year to children and their communities. The customers will then be invited, through a personal code indicated on the chosen fragrance, to extend their action online and create their own support group for the cause.

Lancome Roseraie Des Delices Spring 2012 Colour Collection By Aaron De Mey

ROSERAIE DES DÉLICES SPRING 2012 COLOUR COLLECTION BY AARON DE MEY

The inspiration Roseraie des Délices

All the delights of an enchanted rose garden…

A bewitching interlude in the mildness of a springtime afternoon. This season, Lancôme make-up artistic director Aaron De Mey imagines a fairytale where appetising pleasures mingle with beauty in a lush garden. A realm of pure magic, echoing Jérôme Bosch’s painting “The Garden of Earthly Delights”. A moment suspended in time, where chic is synonymous with delightful interplay…

A boudoir in the garden

The sheer joy of a blissful afternoon spent in a rose garden in full bloom. Voluptuous pleasure, freshness, spontaneity… the very essence of joie de vivre. Savouring nature’s beauty. Luxuriating in sun-dappled shade. Lounging, eyes skyward, on a delicate-as-lace filigree bench in the heart of the rose garden… The breeze is tinged with the irresistible scent of lightness. A remarkable garden punctuated with thousands of roses in the most delectable shades imaginable, an array of tempting treats: macaroons, éclairs, cupcakes, candies and seasonal fruits… Time to indulge in delicious delicacies. Suffused with all of the pleasures of a radiant afternoon, “Roseraie Des Délices” marries sensual pleasure with joie de vivre, and coquettish allure with playful fantasy…

Shades infused with guilty pleasures

Spring fruits, macaroons, barley sugars… A trio of delectable shades sets the tone for this collection: candy pink, tangerine and soft green exist in pastel or tangy incarnations, evoking a basket of sweet delights as well as a blossoming rose garden. As sheer as watercolours, radiantly capturing the light of spring… the “Roseraie Des Délices” shades illuminate the face with infinite softness. Set against an enhanced complexion, lips are adorned with translucent pink, orange or fuchsia, inspired by the most vibrant flowers, whilst eyes are illuminated with subtle shades of pink or green. As for nails, the hues of choice are tangerine, powder pink and almond green, as if playfully dipping hands into candy.

Collection Roseraie des Délices

La Roseraie

One of the places most cherished by Nelly, the wife of the Lancôme founder, was her rose garden, a unique hideaway created by Armand Petitjean. There, they would enjoy the mild days of spring surrounded by the blossoms of their favourite flower, which also became Lancôme’s emblem. Inspired by this refined location, Aaron De Mey reveals the secret of a rosy complexion: as light as a spring breeze, “La Roseraie” blush evens out and illuminates skin with a sheer veil. Its rosy shade brightens the complexion, while its peachy facet warms the face, alongside just a hint of green mother of pearl to correct redness.

Colour play by Aaron De Mey:

Use a broad brush to blend the two shades together and apply generously to cheeks, chin and pronounced areas of the forehead. Then use a blusher brush to apply the pink shade to the upper cheekbones or just below the eye to disguise dark circles. Result: a petal-fresh complexion.

La Roseraie

Les Yeux Doux

As if taken directly from an enchanted garden, two not-so-innocent harmonies illuminate eyes, striking a playful balance between sophistication and seduction. Subtle and sheer, they are simultaneously inspired by shade of fresh rosebuds and more voluptuous shades of fuchsia. One is comprised of tender green, pistachio and mint hues for a delicate feel. The other draws from pink tones and vibrant fuchsia for a more sensual look. Two quartets of variations, each utterly delicious, for natural or bewitching results.

Make-up artistry by Aaron De Mey:

Create a made-to-measure complexion using two medium shades, before applying a delicate veil over the whole eyelid with the tip of the applicator or simply using your fingertips. Then illuminate the inner corner of the eye and the eyebrow arch with a highlighter shade. Finally, to sculpt the eye, blend the more intense shade from the lash base towards the lid crease.

Le French Touch

A true cult lipstick, Le French Touch reinvents itself with each new season. For spring 2012, it takes on the design of an emblematic part of the Lancôme heritage, the 1954 lipstick “Grand Canal”. Blending lustrous and brushed metal, its case is given an appetising berlingot-inspired look with its décor of soft-green spirals. Its satiny formula is infused with shades of the most vibrant roses: a zesty tangerine orange, a vibrantly radiant fuchsia and an irresistible baby pink, “Rose Candy”. Three sheer shades to be applied directly to lips or patted on with the fingertips, for an instant healthy glow effect.

Color Fever Gloss

This spring, Color Fever Gloss shows its natural side with a formula enriched with plant-based ingredients and a lavender fragrance. As mouthwatering as candy, its texture is rich in sweet almond oil, to intensively protect, moisturise and nourish lips. Its ultra-glossy formula dazzles in three new pastel shades: a tender green inspired by flower buds, alongside petal-soft tangerine and pink… The subtle and enchanting shades of a rose garden in springtime.

Instant make-up tip from Aaron De Mey:

Apply color fever gloss directly to lips to bestow them with a sensually glossy finish. The pink and tangerine shades will enhance natural colouring, while the almond green procures a surprising, frosted effect – or try it as a top coat over your lipstick.

Hypnôse Doll Eyes

Today’s number 1 and already a cult mascara*, this is a beauty-accessory to use without even a hint of moderation, the very spirit of playful femininity that enlivens the entire collection. For beautifully bewitching eyes and the look of a true Lancôme “Doll”… With its I-conical brush able to grasp even the tiniest lashes and its nylon-powders enriched fluid formula, Hypnôse Doll Eyes was designed to recreate a genuine doll-eyed look: the lash fringe is thickened, defined, lengthened, curled and dressed in subtle shine. Make eyes look divinely wide open.

Aaron De Mey’s tip to make all the difference:

After applying mascara to the full lash length, leave the formula to dry before applying an extra coat to the roots in order to intensify eyes.

MRP: 69.99$ for 3.5 ml

This is something innovative and different..and surely something that would attract someone with not so dense or brittle lashes…I am not though..when I was asked to review this..I thought why not give a try..

I took the pictures before and after..I have been using it once daily at night before bed from the last 15 days..and I was surprised by the results after 7 days only ! Guys this thing works !

I have never seen my lashes so long and thick untill now..seems magical..especially at the outer corners.

Before- After

It comes in a long slender mascara like tube and has a thin liner like brush..and is to be used on the base of the lashes..in just one gentle stroke as mentioned.

The only issue is there are too many ingredients and I am not very sure of them..though it is ophthalmologically tested and did not irritate or bother the eye at all. And secondly its very expensive.

But if you do not mind shelling that much or desperately need thicker lashes or have very weak and brittle or sparse lashes..this thing is surely for you ! Totally recommended.

  • Innocence
  • Luxe
  • Maple Fudge
  • Tickled Pink

I am reviewing the shade 051 Cupcake..its a sheer baby pink gloss with some silver shimmer..it has a sweet vanilla smell..which I loved..but no taste..

Its a long sleek normal lip gloss packaging..and has a slanted applicator..its non sticky and quite moisturising…stays on for 2-3 hours which is good enough for a lip gloss..
Here is how it looks on me..

Pros:

1. Has a nice vanilla smell.
2. Quite moisturising.
3. Many shades to choose from.
4. Stays for a good 2-3 hours.
5. Non sticky.
6. 5.6 ml is a huge quantity for a lip gloss.

Cons:

1. Expensive. I know Revlon Colorburst are priced the same..but those are much more pigmented and better.
2. Availability is an issue.

Overall these are decent lip glosses..if they were priced at around 300-350..it would have been better. I quite like the vanilla smell…the shade Cupcake is sheer baby pink..and can be used to top up all lipsticks..and can even be used alone..perfect to be paired with smokey eyes.

All About Essential Oils and Carrier Oils

All About Essential Oils and Carrier Oils

People are generally afraid to use oils on their face..thinking it will clog their pores and they would get acne..and how can oil be used on the face,etc..

The fact being oils do not harm your skin..in fact some oils even help them get better..some essential oils like tea tree oil help in combating and healing acne and acne scars..And some base oils like olive oil are very good for cleansing..in fact it is the best and most natural make up remover.

So what are essential oils and carrier oils or base oils ?

Essential oils: An essential oil is a liquid that is generally distilled (most frequently by steam or water) from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, or other elements of a plant. Essential oils, contrary to the use of the word “oil” are not really oily-feeling at all. Most essential oils are clear, but some oils such as patchouli, orange and lemongrass are amber or yellow in color.

Essential oils contain the true essence of the plant it was derived from. Essential oils are highly concentrated and a little goes a long way.

Essential oils are not the same as perfume or fragrance oils. Where essential oils are derived from the true plants, perfume oils are artificially created fragrances or contain artificial substances and do not offer the therapeutic benefits that essential oils offer.

The chemical composition and aroma of essential oils can provide valuable psychological and physical therapeutic benefits. These benefits are usually achieved through methods including inhalation and application of the diluted oil to the skin.

Essential oils are often used by diluting them with a carrier oil (sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil) and then applying this blend to the skin for absorption.

Careful inhalation of the oils can also provide therapeutic benefit as the oil molecules enter the lungs and are absorbed into the bloodstream.

Essential Oils are usually sold for individual use in very small bottles.Essential oils can vary greatly in quality and price. Factors that can affect the quality and price of the oil include the rarity of the botanical, the country of origin and growing/climate conditions, quality standards of the distiller, and how much oil is produced by the botanical.

Essential oils can often be purchased as blends of several essential oils. The advantage if it is a blend of pure essential oils is that you can save from having to buy every essential oil individually. The disadvantage is that you have no control over the blend by not mixing it yourself nor can you reliably mix the blend with other oils.

Essential oils are categorized on the degree of their lightness and they are divided into base, average and top.

Base or Carrier oils : Carrier oils, also known as vegetable oils, base oils or fixed oils, are used to dilute essential oils, CO2s and absolutes before applying to the skin.

A carrier oil is a vegetable oil derived from the fatty portion of a plant, usually from the seeds, kernels or the nuts.

If applied to the skin undiluted, essential oils, absolutes, CO2s and other concentrated aromatics can cause severe irritation or reactions in some individuals. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential and other oils prior to application. They carry the essential oil onto the skin.

Each carrier oil offers a different combination of therapeutic properties and characteristics. The choice of carrier oil can depend on the therapeutic benefit being sought.

Natural lotions, creams, body oils, bath oils, lip balms and other moisturizing skin care products are also made using vegetable (carrier) oils. From a simple essential oil/carrier oil blend to a more complex natural lotion, your choice of carrier oil can make a difference in the therapeutic properties, color, overall aroma and shelf life of your final product.

Essential Oils v/s Carrier Oils

Essential oils are distilled from the leaves, bark, roots and other aromatic portions of a botanical. Essential oils evaporate and have a concentrated aroma. Carrier oils, on the other hand, are pressed from the fatty portions (seeds, nuts, kernels) and do not evaporate or impart their aroma as strongly as essential oils. Carrier oils can go rancid over time, but essential oils do not. Instead, essential oils “oxidize” and lose their therapeutic benefits, but they don’t go rancid.

Vegetable Oils/Fixed Oils/Base Oils

The term carrier oil is generally limited to use within the practice of aromatherapy. In natural skin care, carrier oils are typically referred to as vegetable oils, fixed oils or base oils. Not all fixed oils/base oils are vegetable oils. Emu oil (from the emu bird) and fish (marine) oils are also classified as fixed/base oils, but these animal-based oils are generally not used for aromatherapy work.
The Aroma of Carrier Oils

Some carrier oils are odorless, but generally speaking, most have a faintly sweet, nutty aroma. If you come across a carrier oil that has a strong, bitter aroma, the carrier oil may have gone rancid.

Are you afraid of using oils on your skin too ?

  • Sahara Sand
  • Turkish Coffee
  • Venetian Terracotta
  • Parisian Pink

MRP: 20$ for 4ml

It has shades named after places which sounds so cool. I quite liked Venetian Terracotta, Russian Rubies,Parisian Pink..sounds good na..

Parisian Pink gives a nice natural pink stain to the lips..as mentioned it feels cool on application and tingles for a second and then settles. The color is actually translucent and on application immediately turns pink. It does feel a little drying and its important to use the moisture stick or a lip balm above it..but then it does reduce the staying power a little.

Gets a little deeper after a few seconds

Though its a lip stain it lasts 3-4 hours on me and not more than that…later it goes away completely..and not unevenly..and needs to be reapplied.

Pros:

1. I like the natural pink color..it just adds a touch of pinkiness to the lips.
2. Since the Elizabeth Grant Moisture Stick is to be used above..which is a clear lip balm.it does not feel dry.
3. Stays for 3-4 hours.
4. Does not wear off unevenly.
5. Many colors available.

Cons:

1. Availability is an issue. You can buy it here.
2. I wish it stayed longer..as its a lip stain.
3. Expensive.

Overall I found it ok..since its a stain..I wish the staying power would have been better..though I have not tried the deeper stains..may be they stay longer. I like this particular shade..as it looks very natural on the lips..with just a hint of pink.
