Moringa Body Butter

Mention the words “Body Butter” and The Body Shop® immediately springs into the mind. We were the first company to launch a Body Butter in the early 1990s and it fast became a cult product all over the world. Our Body Butter is made using a unique process, very similar to chocolate-making, to create the perfect buttery texture. Shea butter, a key moisturising ingredient in the range, was discovered by The Body Shop® Founder Anita Roddick, while making a TV programme in Ghana about women entrepreneurs.

Most loved in Asia is our Moringa (Mogra is the Indian name of Moringa) Body Butter. Formulated with Moringa seed oil from hand-picked moringa pods, it has a delicate floral fragrance and moisturises for up to 24 hours

White Musk® Eau De Toilette

Launched in 1981, not only was our White Musk® fragrance an instant best-seller, it also represented a landmark in the fragrance industry since it was one of the first animal cruelty-free musks, made without harming the musk deer. Musk remains one of the most expensive natural products in the world, three to five times more valuable than gold, which has fuelled an illegal trade worldwide. 160 musk deer have to be killed for 1 kg of musk.

Our synthetic musk is a real hit, with one White Musk® product sold every 2 seconds in Asia*.

We like to think of it as a ‘genie in a bottle’.

Spa Wisdom™ Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub

Inspired by African beauty rituals, traditions and ingredients, The Spa Wisdom™ Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub has been the number one best-seller in Asia over past 6 years. The Ximenia oil used is a traditional hair and skincare conditioner and softener for tribeswomen in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.

*Based on retails sales in Asia Pacific over past 6 years from 2006 to 2011.

Vitamin E Moisture Cream

1 SOLD EVERY 16 SECONDS*

Our Vitamin E range has been a bestseller for 35 years. Our most popular day cream is enriched with Vitamin E, one of nature’s most potent emollients and antioxidants. It effectively moisturises and softens skin, protecting it against the effects of harsh environmental elements and the appearance of pre-mature ageing. It is perfect for normal to dry skin types, easily absorbed and has the lightness of a lotion with the moisturising benefits of a cream.

When women all over the world are totally addicted to a single product, it can only mean one thing – the product really works! Based on a survey of over 2,000 women around the world**, the number one thing they liked about this cream is that “it’s effective and it really works”. With one bottle sold every 16 seconds, the numbers say it all.

*Figure based on 52-week global sales until 28 November 2011

**Based on a 2011 survey of 2,247 women in the UK, US and Hong Kong.

Strawberry Shower Gel

Amongst our highly popular shower gels, Strawberry is one of the favourites amongst our customers in Asia. It also has one of our favourite stories behind it.

Whilst walking through the supermarket jam aisle for strawberry seedless jam, one of our employees wondered ‘what happens to the strawberry seeds?’ Further investigation revealed that they were just thrown away.

We found that these seeds can be squeezed to extract the fabulously fruity oil that smells divine and is so good for the skin. We now take the unwanted seeds away from producers of strawberry jam and use them in our Strawberry range. This is another great example of recycling from The Body Shop®.

All-In-One Face Base

All-In-One Face Base is our number one selling foundation in Asia for a good reason. This quick and easy-to-use combined foundation and powder provides fabulous coverage. It can be used dry for a light matte finish or wet for higher coverage.

This foundation contains Marula Oil which has remarkable moisturising and conditioning properties. We were one of the first companies to use this ingredient in our make-up, creating products that are very easy to blend and feel light weight on the skin.

What’s more, our Community Fair Trade partnership with The Eudafano Women’s Cooperative is 100% owned by women and 100% run by women. That’s what we mean by ‘girl power’, from start to finish.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser

Our customers can’t get enough of the Tea Tree range. The Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser is a refreshing instant foaming cleanser with added peppermint essential oil which cools and refreshes the skin, leaving it feeling tingly clean. In addition to Community Fair Trade Tea Tree Oil, it contains Tamanu Oil from Madagascar, which has fantastic skin moisturising properties to help stop skin drying out whilst you cleanse, and lemon tea tree from Kenya, which gives the product a zesty fragrance.

Vitamin E Eye Cream

Another favorite from our Vitamin E family, this moisturising eye cream helps protect the delicate skin around the eye area, reducing the appearance of fine lines and puffiness leaving skin feeling soft and smooth.

The cream contains light-deflecting particles to minimise the appearance of dark circles – think of it as a shield of invisible mirrors on your skin, reflecting the light making you look radiant.

White Musk® Smooth Satin Body Lotion

The White Musk® range includes another top 10 product, the Smooth Satin Body Lotion. This light, sink-in sensual moisturiser has a smooth-as-satin texture that glides over your skin, leaving it feeling velvety-soft to touch and subtly scented.

Any of your favorites out of the Top 10 ?

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals™ Loose Powder Foundation Review, Swatches

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals™ Loose Powder Foundation Review, Swatches

I have already reviewed the Cream Compact Foundation and Liquid Foundation from this range…so now moving onto the Loose Powder Foundation.

What the Company claims: This featherlight powder base gives a radiant, natural-looking finish and can be built up for extra coverage. It is non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin
Buildable coverage
Radiant finish
Covers imperfections and fine lines
Dermatologically tested
Contains SPF 25

Directions: Tip the pot upside-down so a little powder is deposited in the lid. Work the powder into our Mineral Foundation Brush. Tap off the excess and apply to the face in circular motions. Reapply to build coverage.

Full Ingredients:
Mica (Opacifier), Titanium Dioxide (Sunscreen), Kaolin (Absorbent), Illite (Anticaking Agent). [+/- CI 77492 (Colour), CI 77491 (Colour), CI 77499 (Colour), CI 77891 (Colour)].

MRP: Rs. 1395/- for 5g

Shades Available: Eight

I have the same shade 208 Golden Vanilla as in Liquid and Cream Compact Foundation.

It comes in a normal jar packaging..but it has a sieve inside which is better for dispensing the product than the normal 4-5 holes in mineral foundation jars.

The loose powder foundation is very finely milled and very light in texture..this also makes it fly off more..every time you open it..so a lot goes waste.

Swatch

It provides light coverage..you can use this with a concealer below..for days you do not want to cover much or want a light base. Keeps skin oil free for 4-5 hours…its suitable for sensitive skin too as it does not have any harmful ingredients..
Pros:

1. Very finely milled and has a soft silky texture.
2. I liked the sieve packaging…quiet convenient.
3. Good for days when you want a light base.
4. Travel friendly.
5. 5g is a huge quantity and would last long.
6. Has SPF 25.
7. Kaolin helps keep skin oil free.
8. Suitable for sensitive skin too.
9. 8 shades to match your tone.

Cons:

1. Lot of product flies off..causing wastage.
2. Expensive.
3. If you want heavy coverage or covering spots, etc..this would not help.
4. You need a kabuki brush to use this..a powder brush can also be used though..a kabuki is better for loose powder foundations..and you would need to purchase that separately.

Overall I found it decent enough..and good for people who need light coverage. I liked the Cream Compact Foundation the most from this range.

[May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (Colour), Iron Oxides (Colour), Mica (Opacifier)].

Its a cream based foundation..perfect for the winters..and since it has kaolin clay..it can stay well in summers too and for those with oily skin too. It comes with a small stiff compact brush in the lower compartment and a small mirror on top..the packaging is quite handy and nice..you can comfortably carry it and get that perfect coverage any where..

The Liquid Foundation is oil based..so more suitable for dry skin..but this would suit all skin types…even if one has oily skin and this is cream based..the kaolin clay absorbs the oil and keeps skin matte.

It comes in 8 shades here..you get some 12 shades in US..I have 208 Golden Vanilla which matches me perfectly..here is the swatch of 208..

Before blending
After blending

Pros:

1. Super easy to use and blend. Just a few strokes with the brush and since the brush is soft yet stiff it reaches even the under eyes and corners properly.
2. Paraben and fragrance free.
3. Made from extra virgin olive oil and mineral pigments.
4. It gives medium to high coverage depending on how you build up..but even if used once..gives decent enough coverage.
5. Even though it contains kaolin clay..I do not find it drying..in fact the creaminess is fine.
6. This would suit all skin types.
7. Has SPF 15.
8. You do not realise you are wearing a foundation and it stays put the whole day !
9. It does not transfer on clothes or tissues.
10. Perfect packaging..can be used anywhere.

Cons:

1. I do not have any cons for it ! Only thing is one would not know how long would it last..like you can see the quantity but you would not exactly know.

Overall I super like it and recommend it to everyone ! One fabulous product..

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Liquid Foundation Review

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Liquid Foundation Review

What the Company claims: This liquid mineral foundation is a unique combination of pure minerals and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. It provides light to medium, ultra-blendable coverage with a smooth, dewy finish. Extra Virgin Minerals Liquid Foundation is made from an exclusive combination of pure mineral pigments and Community Fair Trade extra virgin olive oil and marula oil, creating a wonderfully blendable foundation, which is light and comfortable to wear and offers all-day hydration, 14 hours of skin moisturisation.

Light to medium coverage
Dewy finish
Ultra-blendable
No added fragrance
Paraben free

SPF30

Ingredients: Water (Solvent/Diluent), Undecane (Emollient), Coco-Caprylate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Talc (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (Sunscreen), PEG-30 Dipolyhydroxystearate (Emulsifier), Tridecane (Emollient), Glycerin (Humectant), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil (Emollient), Titanium Dioxide (Sunscreen), Disteardimonium Hectorite (Suspending Agent), Ethylene Brassylate (Masking Agent), Calcium Carbonate (Absorbant), Sodium Chloride (Viscosity Modifier), Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Triethoxycaprylylsilane (Binder), Magnesium Stearate (Anticaking Agent), Ethylhexylglycerin (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Hexylene Glycol (Humectant), Aluminum Hydroxide (Opacifier). [May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (Colour), Iron Oxides (Colour)].

MRP: Rs.1295/- for 28ml

Now it comes in around 12 shades in the US..but here only 4-5 shades are launched..and the names too are a little different..so its quite confusing..Eg: 202 is Warm Vanilla here and Natural Vanilla there..I am not too sure of there is difference in shades too.

I was confused between 202 Warm Vanilla and 208 Golden Vanilla as both are quite similar..I thought 208 would be a better match and went for it.

Now all the claims made for it are true..it is ultra blendable..and provides a dewy finish. Extra virgin olive oil and marula oil are its core ingredients..and you would immediately feel its oil based from the texture..I would not advice oily skinned girls to go for this..but still you can try this in winters if you love dewy finish.

It comes with a pump and is super handy to use and carry along. Since it is fragrance free..some people may not like the smell..It does not have any particular smell of its own.

Here is the swatch of 208 Golden Vanilla..it matches me perfectly..

Blended

And here is how it looks on me..I have used just the foundation..no concealer or powder..so that you can get the idea of the coverage..

Pros:

1. Super easy to use and blend. Even fingers work fine.
2. Paraben and fragrance free.
3. Made from extra virgin olive oil and marula oil.
4. Gives a nice dewy finish.
5. Its quite moisturising and even if I skip a moisturiser it never goes streaky.
6. Perfect for dry skinned girls or using in winters.
7. Has SPF 30.
8. Light to medium coverage.
9. It does not transfer on clothes or tissues.
10. Feels very light on skin.

Cons:

1. You may not like it if you have very oily skin.
2. It has SPF 30..so needed to be blended well if you are going to be photographed to avoid a whitish cast.
3. It stays well if in a AC environment..if out in a humid weather you need to touch up with a powder.

Overall I do like this..especially in the winters..and also coz I like dewy finish.
