MRP: 3.5 $ or Rs 300/-

I am reviewing the shade Dynamic Duo. Its a matte nude brown and creamy beige combo. Its a perfect everyday wear combo..wear you can even out your lids and define your crease a little. This is suitable for office and formal wear too.

These two shades are quite versatile and can be used for contouring and highlighting too as these are matte..

These are single swipes of color without a primer..the color pops out more with a primer.

Pros:

1. Quite versatile and multi purpose.
2. Perfect for daily wear and formal wear.
3. Small and handy to carry.
4. Economical.
5. These stay on for 3-4 hours without a primer and longer with a primer.
6. These are quite soft in texture but not chalky or powdery.
7. They have a variety of combos to choose from.

Cons:

1. They do not have a mirror or applicator with it.
2. The eye shadow trios are priced at 315 which sound better..I am not too sure if they have the same pigmentation.
3. Availability is an issue. You can buy it here

Overall I quite like these..they are not at all bad for their price. And particularly for this combo I like its versatility.

T-B: Chocolate Brown, Olive Green, Lilac, Beige, Old Rose

All the eye shadows are plain and matte.Good for everyday use and for blending other shimmery shades too. Nude/beige would help even out the eye lids and Chocolate Brown would help create a crease. A lilac eye shadow would help open up eyes. Old Rose would also be a nice everyday shade.

Pros:

1. Would suit sensitive skin and sensitive eyes.
2. Matte shades..good for everyday use.
3. These shades would also help in blending out other shimmery colors.
4. Come in individual pans but easy to carry with the magnetic palette.
5. They do not crease much.

Cons:

1. Not pigmented..especially the lighter shades..one needs many swipes for the color to show up.
2. Little powdery.
3. Only available online.
4. Staying power is ok..do not stay long.

Overall these are ok..but except the Chocolate shade..rest lighter shades are not pigmented enough.

Modern Smoky

T-B: Soft Grey, Dark Grey, Black
The quality of these eye shadows is pretty nice..they are very pigmented and do not crease even without a primer and stay for a decent amount of time. But these are very very soft and one needs to handle them well..or they would just crumble.
One had already crumbled before reaching me :/ The soft grey is totally broken and it has spread around on other shadows too..even after cleaning I am not able to get the exact color of the other shadows.
They come in a nice compact which has a mirror and a sponge tip applicator..one side big and the other side smaller. Its quiet handy to carry..and they have a pretty butterfly design on each of their eye shadows.
Pros:
1. Silky smooth texture.
2. They are quite pigmented.
3. Stay on long without creasing.
4. They adhere to the skin and using them is quite easy.
5. Packaging is nice and easy to carry around.
6. Single eye shadow is quite economical at Rs.130/- and it contains 2.5 g of product which would last quite long and the quality is worth the price.
7. Some shades are matte and some satiny..but these are not too shimmery and can be worn anywhere.
Cons:
1. These are quite delicate and one needs to be careful in using them..or else they would just crumble away.
2. One weird thing is the pricing. Individual shadows are priced at 130 and three together with the compact at 995. The cost for three shadows would be 390 and if the rest of the price is for the compact, I would suggest getting the individual ones.
3. Availability is an issue though..you can only get them online.
Overall I quite liked the quality of these eye shadows and I do recommend trying the individual ones. I would do EOTDs soon 🙂

Mattify! Cosmetics Eye Shadows Review

Mattify!TM Long Lasting Eye Shadow

FREE shipping on all eye shadows

Ever notice that your eyeshadow disappears half way through the day? If
you have oily skin, this is a common problem. Without the proper base, eyeshadow does not adhere to the skin & as a result, you get streaky shadow that fades fast. Mattify! Long Lasting Eye Shadows all contain the same Kaolin Clay mixture as Mattify! Original Powder – giving them a superb oil absorbing base and staying power.

One Product – Four Different Uses!
There has never been a cosmetic item that multi-tasks like this.
Each Mattify! Long Lasting Eye Shadow can be worn as:

Eye Shadow
Eye Liner
Lip Gloss
Nail Polish

To create Eye Liner: Dip a skinny applicator into water and tap away excess. Dip applicator into Mattify! Eye Shadow, and again, tap away excess. The powder shadow will instantly liquefy, allowing you to use it as a liquid eye liner.

To create Lip Gloss:Dispense a small amount of Mattify! Eye Shadow onto a thick piece of paper. Remove lip gloss wand from container, and dab into the eye shadow. Brush onto lips until desired color opacity is achieved.

To create Nail Polish: Dispense a small amount of Mattify! Eye Shadow onto a thick piece of paper. Take the brush out of the jar of nail polish, and dab into the eye shadow. Brush onto nail until color completely covers the nail. Allow to dry and apply a clear or glittery top coat.

Application:
Several different looks can be achieved with Mattify! Eye Shadow. Use lighter colors to highlight and brighten, and darker colors for liner or to create sexy smoky eyes.

Always start by inverting the jar (with lid still attached) and tapping a few times to bring shadow through the sifter holes. Turn jar right side up & then remove lid.

Sheer Color Wash: Dab one side of the eyeshadow applicator into color. Tap applicator on side of jar, or gently blow on applicator remove excess. Gently brush applicator over desired eye area. This will obtain a sheer color wash.

Opaque coloring: In a circular motion, swirl one side of the eyeshadow applicator into color, making sure to saturate it with quite a bit of shadow. Tap or blow on applicator to remove excess. PAT the applicator onto desired area. **It’s important to use patting motions to achieve an opaque effect – otherwise you will spread the color too thin and end up with more of a sheer coloring. Depending on the desired level of opacity, you may want to go over the area a couple of times.

Smokey eye: Using the opaque coloring technique described above, apply shadow toward the outer corners of eye lids. Next, use the applicator to grab the heavy coloring on outer corners inwards toward the center of your eye. The color should be darkest at the outer most corner of lids, and begin to lighten toward the center of lids. Lightly dab a pale complimentary color to the inner corners of the eye.

I am reviewing the shades Midnight Train, Snow Bunny and Summer Storm.

From site

Midnight Train is a sultry deep blue with silvery flecks and metallic shine. Creates the perfect smoky eye & is a sexy alternative to basic black liner.

Summer Storm is a hazy medium grey with bright sheen – creates a beautiful smoky eye when used dry, or an awesome foiled metallic liner when applied wet.

Snow Bunny is a semi opaque white with shimmer that sparkles on your eye lids, like sunshine dancing across the snow. Makes a great accent color to lighten and brighten corners of eyes and under brow bones.

T-B: Midnight Train, Snow Bunny, Summer Storm

Dry and wet

Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Tin Oxide, Magnesium Stearate, Kaolin Clay, Cornstarch.

MRP: 4.99$ for 5g

Pros:

1. These eye shadows stay pretty long without a primer or anything..they stayed for around 5-6 hours and did not fade out completely even in rains.
2. Work great as wet eyeliner too.
3. Has multiple uses.
4. All colors are very nice and you would surely get confused.
5. Reasonably priced.
6. Free shipping all over the world.
7. Did not crease at all.

Cons:

1. I did not find any con except for the fact that these are a little shimmery and not for formal occasions.
2. These are more pigmented when used wet.

Quality: 4.5/5
Value for money: 4/5

Heiress is described as pearlized finish..its a shimmery pink…believe me the shimmer is so much that it just would not go from my hands..it can be used as an highlighter and works great that way.

Aphrodite is described as matte..though its not completely matte..its a light purple color..

Both are new additions in their collection.

L-R: heiress,aphrodite

I had received both broken esp the Heiress and everyone had a similar complaint..coz these are very very soft in texture..I am going to use them as pigments now..they work fine…m yet to break them completely though//but I have transferred them in separate containers..I do not want to add rubbing alcohol otherwise could have fixed them..would try some time if I feel like.

Pros:

1. They have a buttery soft texture.
2. Very easy to blend.
3. Huge variety of colors to choose from.
4. Stay on well for 4-5 hours without a primer.
5. Pretty nice packaging…you can carry it along too.
6. Does not crease.

Cons:

1. Heiress is very shimmery and thats why there is fall out..the pearlized ones are not for daytime use.

Skin Tones and Colors that Complement

Skin Tones (Warm and Cool) and Colors that Complement

Wonder why some colors light up your face while others totally wash you out? There is more to skin color than just complexion. Crack the color code by identifying your skin (under) tone and you’ll never go wrong with hues.

Peaches ‘n’ cream, milk ‘n’ roses, chocolate, olive, bronze, wheatish, coffee, chalky…there probably aren’t as many ice-cream flavors as there are complexions. However, every skin color, be it pale, fair, dusky or dark, has an ‘undertone’ to it which can be broadly described as “warm” or “cool”.

Figure out your undertone

Warm skin tones range from yellowish to even golden-bronze while cool skin tones are pinkish, pale or even bluish at times. So, how do you figure out yours? Simply flip your palm over and take a good hard look at the veins on the underside of your arm. If the vessels look green, chances are that your skin tone is warm but if they appear bluish, you are most likely a cool. Placing a white paper or cloth against your face in natural light is another way of assessing your undertones – if the paper appears yellowish in comparison, you are a cool and if it appears bluish, you are a warm. Simple, isn’t it? Another way is cool tones burn easily in the sun where as warm tones tan easily. There is also a Neutral which falls in between and mostly all colors go well on this tone.

Now that you have your finger on the right spot, it becomes relatively easier to zero in on colour palettes in apparel and make-up that are likely to compliment your skin.

While choosing make-up, people should opt for the same undertones as their skin. For example pastels and frosty shades complement cool skin tones while richer hues look great on warm skin. The same rule applies to gold and silver highlights. If you are cool skinned, you will find that silver jewelry and silver glitter looks better against your skin. On the other hand, gold jewelry adds a glow to warm skin tones.

If that still leaves you in a fix, here is a quick colour guide to help you :

Color Palette for Warm Skin

Blush
Pick apricots and peachy pinks if you are fair, bronzes and medium browns if you are medium and rich coppers and auburns if you are dark.

Lipstick
Nudes and rusty pinks go well with fair skin while darker skins look fab in maroons, burgundy, deep reds and lustrous browns.

Eye shadow
Experiment with different shades of bronze, gold, cream, taupe, emerald green, turquoise, fuchsia and coral.

Color Palette for Cool Skin

Blush
Pink, tawny, lavender and beige work well for fair complexions, rose and corals suit medium skins while dark skins shine out in shades of plum and deep pinks.

Lipstick
Frosty pinks and lavenders are for you if you are fair. For darker skin, take a pick from magenta, purples, frosty browns and muted shades of red.

Eye shadow
White, silver, pale blue, purple, sea green and lavender look good on cool skin tones.

All colors look good on Neutral skin tones.

Here is a chart of colors for warm and cool tones.

Warm Tones
Cool Tones

Get the base right

No matter how carefully you choose your colours, nothing will look right if the shade of your foundation is all wrong. Most women make the ghastly mistake of picking a foundation lighter than their skin’s natural colour in an attempt to look fairer. You must always try out the foundation on your cheekbones or neck before making a buy. Experiment across brands and choose one that completely blends into your skin. If you are unable to find a perfect match, opt for a color darker than your actual skin tone as a lighter shade will only make you look unnatural and pasty.

Once you have a basic understanding, you can then differentiate between for example, a “warm pink” and a “cool pink”. A warm pink is a peachy pink. A cool pink would be a purplish pink. A warm green would be a yellowish green. A cool green would be more blue.

A warm toned foundation powder is more yellow based. A cool toned one is more pink.

Warm celebs: Malaika Arora Khan, Bipasha Basu
Cool clebs: Karisma Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai

Are you a warm or a cool toned??

Bday gift from myself- 120 color palette !!

Ok guys..yesterday was my bday..and I received my 120 color eye shadow palette I had ordered yesterday afternoon !! I was super duper happy and somewhere I was feeling I would get it on my bday !!

It was super nicely packed. At first I was shocked seeing such a small packet..coz I had thought it comes bigger in size looking at the pics all over net. After the main cover, it had thick double layer of bubble wrap.

And after removing those,it had 2 thick sheets of thermocol at the front and back…with double cello tapes on it too. Then after removing those, the palette finally with the thin bubble wrap again.

Phew !! I was tired removing all those..:p

I had ordered it on 8th Dec and I got on 22nd Dec…and this was free shipping !! Yay !!

I had heard that 2-3 eye shadows are always broken and that was right..my 2 eye shadows were broken…1 was yellow color and other a dark brown type..its ok..coz I am not gonna use yellow as it is..and there are already so many other yellows in it..ok..you ppl can gimme some tips on fixing those eye shadows..
And in the last row..the colors had spread a bit on each other…:(

I am happy nothing happened to the lower set as I loveee those colors…they look so pretty…

The colors that broke can be seen on the paper opposite..

The size if the eye shadows is indeed small..around a 50 paise coin..and thats why the small size of the palette..and that makes it perfect to even carry anywhere.

But considering I use makeup ocassionally this is gonna last me a longggg longg time..

The seller buyincoins is indeed very good…accept only Paypal..and reply promptly too..I loved shopping with them and plus the super cheap rates and free shipping..I got this palette for 13$..

Will I buy again: Yes obviously…I will get the 88 color warm palette and the 15 color concealer palette..but not now…may be after some time…after I get used to this palette a bit..

Any other reccos ?
