Diet & Lifestyle Changes for Better Skin Health

Diet & Lifestyle Changes for Better Skin Health

Diet & Lifestyle Changes for Better Skin Health

Hi guys,

Diet & Lifestyle Changes for Better Skin Health

I get asked about skincare often and it’s not just about applying external products but also some internal changes and lifestyle changes required for good overall skin health.

Of course, you can’t control the hormonal changes during that time of the month but try to make some regular changes for the skin to improve and improve each day.

Some changes have worked well for me.

1. Excluding/limiting sugar

This will be the number one change required in your diet. Excess consumption of sugar leads to chronic inflammation which leads to acne and in the long term, loss of collagen and elastin which will make your skin dull and age the skin faster. This includes all forms of sugar, which are a part of ingredients in most processed/packaged foods. Read your labels, before buying anything. Check the quantity of sugar as a % and if it is more than 3-4% of the total, do not buy it. I know it is difficult to give up sugar altogether, so try and eliminate it slowly. First, from your tea or coffee which you consume daily, then restrict the sweets to once a week and limit the portion size. You can switch to natural alternatives like honey, maple syrup, or artificial sweeteners like stevia (nothing with aspartame) but again in limited quantities. Some other alternatives are coconut sugar and jaggery which are not exactly better in terms of calories but they at least have some nutrients, in case you crave something sweet and cannot resist.

2. Excluding/limiting dairy

Milk and milk products are highly processed these days and are loaded with hormones which lead to acne and breakouts. If you cannot stop having dairy products completely limit your intake. Yogurt and buttermilk are better since they are probiotic and are good for gut health. Limit the milk, cheese, and paneer intake, or try and switch to alternatives like tofu, soy milk, oat milk, or any nut milk.

3. Exercise

Try and get some body movement every day, at least 20 minutes a day. Walking, jogging, running, stretching, home workout, yoga, whatever is comfortable for you. Blood circulation and muscle movement during exercise are important for both your body and skin.

4. Massaging/Dry Brushing

Body massage, facial massage, or just dry brushing at home, works the same way as exercise and is even better post-exercise. Again it helps with blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, i.e. it removes the toxins from your lymph nodes. Try to include some sort of massage in your routine at least once a week, if not more.

5. Cleansing the skin

It is equally important to cleanse your skin thoroughly each night and apply some moisturizer for your skin to work on, while you sleep. Your skin regenerates at night and that is the most important time for your skin to be nourished. That is the main reason why everyone advises not to sleep with makeup on 😀 But again, just removing it with a face wash and not cleansing properly will be of no use as some makeup could still be clogged in pores. Start with an oil or balm to melt all your makeup at first emulsify it with water and wash it off. Then go ahead with a face wash, again use a cleansing tool is preferable as your fingers cannot remove the makeup in your pores thoroughly. But the cleansing tool shouldn’t be harsh as that will, in turn, break your capillaries and lead to excessive dryness and irritation. I love using the Foreo LUNA 2 as it is super gentle and removes my makeup thoroughly. I can even see some leftover makeup on the device after a good first cleanse! The opposite side can be used for light massaging which helps absorb skincare products better. You can also try the LUNA Play which is a smaller version and perfect for travel.

6. Sleep

It is important to get 6-8 hours of sleep (depending on the body and physical work during the day) every day. And also to have an approximate fixed time range for your sleep, if not exact, as the body gets used to going into sleep mode around that time. As mentioned earlier, your skin regenerates when you sleep and if the body and skin don’t get the required sleep, your body will be tired and lethargic and your skin dull and lackluster. It will first be visible through your eyes, leading to dark circles, puffy eyes, under-eye bags, etc. Along with good sleep, massaging the eye area also helps in increasing the blood circulation around the eyes which means fewer dark circles and under-eye bags and delays in wrinkles. 😀 I love using a good eye cream and massaging the eye area with the Foreo IRIS every night before sleeping. I wake up to fresher-looking skin and eyes, with no bags or puffiness 🙂

7. Supplements

Your body does not receive all the nutrition from food and with the changing lifestyle and highly processed foods (including chemical-laden fruits and vegetables). It is important to supplement the body externally with nutrients. Even though all vitamins and minerals are equally important for your body, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin D, Omega 3, Iron, and Zinc will keep your oil and hydration levels in place, and in turn will help with acne and breakouts and overall health of your skin and hair. Try and include foods that have more of these vitamins or a daily supplement orally. (get it prescribed by your physician)

8. Water

This has been spoken about quite a lot already, having 8 glasses of water a day is the standard we have read for everything since the time we were kids 😀 But it’s true, water helps in flushing out all the toxins and waste from your body. If you have acne-prone skin and break out a lot, just add one additional litre of water to your daily intake and you will see a major difference in your skin in 10-12 days. In case you are already having enough water, you need not increase it. If you have too much water and not enough salts/sodium, that would do more harm than good with low blood pressure, etc. Everybody is different and try and figure out what works for your body. Ideally, between 2-3 litres is good but it also depends on your exercise/physical activity (how much you sweat, etc) and if you have more water, make sure you include some salts in your body.

And goes without saying, sunscreen is the most important and without that, anything else you do is of no point.

These are some of the changes required for good, healthy, glowing, plump skin. If you try and incorporate these changes, you will surely see a huge difference in your skin health.

Smell Fresh All Day with the New Fiama Scents

Smell Fresh All Day with the New Fiama Scents

On a hectic day there is nothing more annoying than having to keep going and checking yourself out to make sure you smell right 🙂 For me my days are packed and I have to look fresh and sweet smelling for every engagement.

A few months ago I came across Fiama Scents, recommended by a friend who couldn’t stop talking about the fact that with a slight rub on the skin, this body wash actually last for 7-8 hours.

I am a fan of both the Juniper Berries & Geranium and Mimosa & Neroli body washes (though I have to admit that the latter is my favourite) – It’s like magic, you just rub the skin and you smell fresh again, as the scent bubbles get activated.

So with a little bit of technology magic called fragrance encapsulation, the brand has hit the nail on the head providing me with the freedom to do as many things in a day without those momentary break to “check” oneself.

These are also priced economically at, 250ml for ₹199 and a travel pack of 100ml for ₹55 (Buy HERE or HERE) Bright and fun, the smaller 100ml bottles are perfect for travel. If you live in a humid city (like Mumbai), Fiama Scents are definitely a must try because we need something which keeps us smelling fresh through the day. I definitely recommend them.

Docolor Fantasy Makeup Brush Set/Contouring Brush Review

Docolor Fantasy Makeup Brush Set/Contouring Brush Review

Hi guys,

If you follow me on Snapchat and Insta stories, I had shared these brushes with you guys and many of you asked me to review them.

I am using these since about 2 weeks now, especially the face brushes. Docolor is a Hong Kong based makeup brushes brand, they have so many different varieties of makeup brushes, from sets to individuals and also a lot of accessories like brush holders, lash combs, instant brush cleaner, etc.

I have the 16 pcs Fantasy Makeup Brush Set and the Kabuki/Contouring Brush. They have synthetic hair and the body is plastic.

Docolor Fantasy Set: Inspired by rainbow’s colorful, among a sea of basic, black, utilitarian beauty tools, they are just as magical-looking,totally special as one might imagine.

Features: The handles are a beautiful glistening rainbow, the bristles are pastel pink hued, the overall effect is totally dreamy as you might imagine, this brush is created for all genders! Because makeup has no gender.

Vegan Brushes: Bristles are made of synthetic fiber, a super-soft fiber that feels luxurious against the skin, and no shedding that avoid embarrassing moments.

What’s In The Box? Brushes for applying the magical powder, foundation, concealer, eyebrow, highlighter, eye shadow, blending brushes — all housed in a beautiful rainbow box.

This set contains:

01 Powder Brush

02 Angled Blush Brush

03 Highlight Brush

04 Contour Brush

05 Flat Kabuki Brush

06 Smokey Brush

07 Blending Eye Shadow Brush

08 Angled Eye Shadow Brush

09 Concealer Brush

10 Flat Definer Brush

11 Eye Shadow Brush

12 Eye Shadow Brush

13 Angled Eye Liner Brush

14 Lip Liner Brush

15 Lip Brush

16 Spoolie Brush

Price: $23.18 (Buy HERE)

First of all, just look at the packaging. They are the most beautiful brushes I have ever seen. The ombre of white and pink bristles and gold/blue/green/pink/purple on the handles with the glitter texture looks amazing. These are aptly named ‘Rainbow’ brushes.

The bristles are super soft and fluffy, quite soft for synthetic hair, the powder brush is my absolute favourite. It’s one of the softest powder brush I have used. They haven’t shed hair at all yet. I love the build of it too, they are quite sturdy and tight.

All the face brushes come with brush guards, so that they can be kept tightly in the guards and don’t lose shape.

Synthetic brushes are great for cream products and for packing colour. The eye shadow blending brush is ok, it’s not pointy enough in shape. But you can always make do with blending brushes, the more the merrier.

One thing I would like to add is, they do not pick up a lot of product, hence need building up. Which is good for bronzers/blushes as you won’t end up with too much at a time. But if you need something that is quicker, then you might not like these.

Coming to the contouring brush,

Claims: This Single Flat Contour Trimming Brush is inspired by rainbow’s colorful, among a sea of basic, black, utilitarian beauty tools, It’s just as magical-looking, totally special as one might imagine. It is small and flat, the angular design of this brush makes it ideal for controlled application of powder and color. Excellent for blending, contouring and highlighting the complexion, allow you to achieve professional makeup application every time.It is designed to create targeted contouring and strong, sculpted cheeks. If you want to make your face look slimmer and gives you a super chiseled appearance, then this is the brush for you.

Price: $8.99 (Buy HERE)

Now this has the exact same design as this is also from the Fantasy collection. Again a sturdy body and well packed bristles. It’s a flat rectangle shaped brush and is perfect for cream contouring. It works for powder contouring too, but best for blending creams. Even though it claims to work for highlighting too, the shape is not very suitable for highlighting.

Overall, I would say these are pretty affordable and stunning in terms of design. Pretty sturdy and I do recommend them for the price.

Have you tried Docolor brushes yet? They even have a unicorn collection 😀

New Launch: Morphy Richards’ Global Range #ConversationStarters

New Launch: Morphy Richards’ Global Range #ConversationStarters

Hi guys,

Few days ago I attended the Morphy Richards’ new launch in India. They brought their global range of products in India.

Prism collection

Morphy Richards is a premium kitchen and home appliances brand. They launched their global range i.e. Redefine, Prism and Total Control. Morphy Richards is known for their smart technology and innovative designs.

Mr. Shekhar Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Electricals and Mr. Anant Bajaj, JMD, Bajaj Electricals presented the new Morphy Richards range to the press and media.

Redefine

Redefine is the new premium, highly innovative product group by Morphy Richards. Driven by principles of innovation and providing exceptional quality, the range is designed to fulfil your need for brilliantly performing products that have equal aesthetic prowess. The USP of the range is the Intelligent ThermoGlass technology that allows you to clearly see your bread being toasted/water being boiled to perfection. I absolutely loved the see through toaster, it definitely is a conversation starter at your home 😀

Prism

Prism collection is a leading iconic design piece for those who do not worry about going against the crowd. The USP of the range is the most striking design with textured finish and vibrant colors and design which is sure to make a statement in your kitchen. Prism collection has to be my favourite in terms of looks. Bright yellow and red toasters and kettles can make any kitchen look strikingly beautiful!

Total Control

The smartest amongst the lot is the Total Control Collection which has a range of products enabling you to prepare food just the way you like it. It uses Smart Response Technology which intelligently controls the motor in a variety of ways, providing the right level of power regardless of the mixture. It will enable you to effortlessly prepare everything from soups and sauces, pestos and cakes delivering exactly the right amount of power as and when you need it. Total Control range is quite multi-functional, one device can be used for a number of uses and for making varied dishes.

All the devices were presented beautifully with the yummy food around and we clicked number of pictures. The whole set up was beautiful!

We also saw Chef Rushina Ghildiyal use all of the appliances in a demo later on. From the soup maker to the stand mixer, toaster, kettle and the table blender (which you do not need to hold from the top, it’s hands free!) The best part about the toaster is that you can do 4 slices together and each side i.e. 2 can be kept at a different setting according to how you like your toast, light or crisp. The stand mixer for dough and soup maker are also very time saving, as you just add in the ingredients, set the time and go about finishing your other work.

We were divided into two teams and we used the appliances ourselves and had 3-4 different activities to do. Beating eggs, making mocktails and smoothies, toasting bread, we did it all. Our team won 😀

Priced between Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 30,000 these products will be made available in the Indian market starting first week of September. They are available for pre-order already.

I am definitely looking forward to it. What about you? Did you like the range? Let me know your favourite in the comments below.

March 2017 My Envy Box Review & Unboxing

March 2017 My Envy Box Review & Unboxing

Hi guys,

I got the March My Envy Box today, and after the previous Feb box, I was hoping they would step up their game and they did!

The theme for this month is ‘Relax. Renew. Refresh’. I quite liked the outer box packaging too.

MRP: Rs.850/- (Available HERE)

Products I got:

  • Essence Lip Liner – Full size – Rs.129/- (1g)
  • Neemli Coffee & Cocoa Body Wrap- Full size- Rs.550/- (75g)
  • Wikka Beauty Potion- Full size- Rs.700/- (15g)
  • Eyova Hair Oil- Full size- Rs.590/- (50ml)
  • All Good Scents Rose & Jasmine- 2ml vials
  • Gardner Street Tea Glow- 3 sachets

I am so glad they have added 4 full sized products this time. And also all 6 products are an interesting mix from tea to perfume to body wrap and one makeup product.

Essence lip liners would be in red, nude and pink. I got the red one and I don’t mind. It would work with all red lipsticks.

Neemli makes very good body products and this is a full sized body wrap, quite excited to try this one.

Wikka has aromatherapy products and this is a face moisturizer with Aloe vera, Avocado and Patchouli and Chamomile essential oil, I would be trying this tom onwards. Smells really good!

All Good Scents makes good perfumes, I wish they had included small 5ml/10ml bottles. Even one 10ml would do instead of 2 small vials. Considering they are not pricey, slightly bigger samples are better.

Lastly we have the Eyova Hair oil, this has egg yolk extracts and I have heard mixed reviews about this one. Some love it and some hate it. I am not sure if I will use this as I am a vegetarian, also the egg smell is pretty strong of this one. I might give it a try or give it to a friend.

Overall the box has products of value above Rs.2000/- and I am pretty happy with everything. Highly recommend this month’s box 🙂

What did you get in March My Envy Box?

Kairali Ayurvedic Healing Village Experiential, Vlog

Kairali Ayurvedic Healing Village Experiential, Vlog

Hi guys,

So last to last weekend I was in Palakkad in Kerala at The Kairali Ayurvedic Healing Village. Those of you who follow me on social media already know that and have been seeing the live updates.

Since there was no network and WiFi there, I couldn’t update much, but of course I captured everything for the vlog.

About Kairali: Kairali Ayurvedic Group’s signature resort ‘The Ayurvedic Healing Village’ is situated int Palakkad, just a few kilometers from the world’s biggest mountain pass between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. There is no better place to get inside nature and rejuvenate with natural medicine than the sweet scented forests of Kerala’s Pala trees. Time spent at this unique jungle paradise will allow you to experience the authentic healing practices of ancient India, while relaxing in the lap of modern holistic luxury.

They have different packages for different treatments, yoga therapy, yoga training, ayurveda training, etc. They get patients from all around the world for hypertension, anxiety, nervous breakdown, facial paralysis, weight loss, etc.

You can of course also go there to detox, relax and rejuvenate. A break like this is very refreshing.

We were welcomed with the sandalwood tikka, small white shawl like silk cloth and fresh coconut water. Once you check in, the first thing is consultation with the doctor as your stay, food and everything that will follow will be according to the doctor’s guidelines. The doctor checks your blood pressure, weight and asks for your entire medical history and specific concerns and issues.

Treatment/Massage room

She also prescribes ayurvedic medicines, if required. Apart from that, there are 1-2 massages/treatments everyday as per your package and medical requirement.

We had two massages and we tried Abhyangam on Day 1 and Shirodhara on Day 2. I absolutely loved the massages, they use warm oil very generously and each patient has two attendants and they both do it in perfect sync.

Abhyangam is massaging each and every body part with a lot of warm oil, from head to toe. Shirodhara as the name suggests is flow of oil on your head. They do start with the body massage at first, which is followed by Shirodhara. After the massage, we have to sit in the steam chamber for about 5-6 minutes, followed by the bath. They give a special ubtan (which has green gram powder) to bath with, it gets rid of all the oil without stripping any moisture from the skin. I did not require any moisturiser while I was staying there, because of the generous oil during the massage on both the days.

Outside my villa

There are 30 villas in the Kairali property right now, I loved how each villa was at a distance and each villa had a nice verandah outside to relax and admire the surroundings. The entire property is lush green with a lot of different trees and waterfalls around. You can also find a lot of rare birds and butterflies.

Breakfast (Wheat Upma)

Food is all organic made with very little oil and less salt and spices. There is no sugar used in anything, you can get palm sugar if needed. All desserts had jaggery in it. You get fixed portions if you are here for weight loss program. But you get everything from soup, salad, roti, 2 veggies and one dal and rice, followed by dessert. They grow all fruits and vegetables in their own organic farm behind the property. Morning breakfast starts with a plate full of fresh fruits and fresh fruit juice, followed by one main dish and toast/butter.

The water served here is special herbal water. There is red sandalwood based pink water which everyone can drink, it tastes just like regular water. And there is Niranjal (not sure if this is the correct spelling :/) which is light yellow in color and meant for weight loss and increasing metabolism, it has a slight jeera water taste.

They also have a herbal garden which has one herb plant each, it is only for training purpose. Their main property where they grown all the herbs is near their factory. We also visited the factory where they make all Kairali products and saw the entire process how each product is made. We were allowed to click only in two rooms, hence the part you see in the vlog is only half of the process.

We also met the founders Mrs. Gita Ramesh and Mr. K.V Ramesh, it was so good meeting them. They were very warm and down to earth. We chatted for about 45 minutes with them. There was also a cooking demo by the main chef and an astrology session later on.

While you are staying there, each day 6.30 to 7.30 is yoga practice and 6 to 7 in the evening is meditation. In between you can have your breakfast, lunch, relax and get your massage treatments done. They also have an entertainment room where you can play a few games and a gym.

You get WiFi access only at the reception area and not in the rooms, so you have to come to the reception to use WiFi. I had no network, so was almost without internet the 3 days. I actually liked this small little break/detox. I am online 24/7, so it was difficult at the start but I was liking it after a day.

The only thing I would have liked better are the rooms. The interiors could have been much better, and same goes for the bathroom. Bathroom didn’t have proper drainage system. Since we were occupied on both the days and were out the whole time, it didn’t bother me much but if someone comes for the 7 days/14 days package, they have to be comfortable. I wish they work on the interiors and bathrooms, because everything else is just perfect!

Overall, I loved the experience and highly recommend going there for a treatment if you are suffering from something specific or just for a detox. Also for elders who are suffering from arthritis, diabetes, blood pressure, etc, it’s an ideal place to visit.

See more/book the place here www.ayurvedichealingvillage.com

We also got a few products during the factory visit. I have been using them since quite some days and I really like them. This Grapeseed and Almond body lotion was a part of the toiletries in the bathroom and had used it during the stay too. I absolutely love the smell. It looks rich but is water based and gets absorbed instantly.

I have used the Kairoil hair oil and the Kairkare body massage oil just once, so will update on that later. I absolutely loved the sandal soap, it smells really good and doesn’t dry the skin at all because of the glycerin in it.

Also the herbal powder for body wash is really good. It exfoliates the skin gently and does not strip the natural oils from the skin. The lemon anti-dandruff shampoo is refreshing and works on keeping the scalp clean and dandruff free.

The products are slightly expensive I would say, but since they are all herbal and natural and if they work, all up for it. Since I saw the factory and how the products are made, I would really love trying more of Kairali products and definitely will. Highly recommend them. I am looking forward to try Kaircin which is a facial oil for glowing skin 🙂

Products/Medicines/Oils can be bought here: www.kairaliproducts.in

P.S: I went to Kairali Healing Village as a part of Ayurveda Sutra Wellness Bloggers meet Edition 2

Have you been to an ayurvedic/health resort before? How was your experience?

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Range Review

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Range Review

Hi guys,

The Body Shop had come up with three limited edition ranges this Christmas, one was Spiced Apple, Frosted Berries and this Vanilla Chai one. I had these three products from the Vanilla Chai range and here are my thoughts..

– Foaming bubble bath
– Leaves skin smelling beautiful and feeling refreshed
– Seasonally Sweet Vanilla Chai Scent
– Limited Edition

MRP: Rs.1495

Ingredients:

This range comes in a pretty light yellow packaging with the Christmasy print on it. The smell is warm and woody, more of chai than of vanilla. It’s not the light vanilla scent, the strong chai scent is overpowering the vanilla.

But I still love the warm and spicy scent and it’s perfect for the winter season.

I have the Body Butter, Shower Gel and Foam bath. Now I don’t have a bath tub, hence cannot use the Foam Bath in that way, but I add it in a bucket and use it that way. Also it is great for manicures and pedicures at home, those pampering days.

I love the Shower Gel and Body Butter combo, the smells lasts longer when both are used simultaneously. The body butter is slightly thick and rich for my taste and hence it is perfect for current winters. I don’t like using heavy body butters in summers or monsoons in Mumbai.

The shower gel foams and cleanses really well, and skin does not feel overly dry or stretchy. I would recommend trying out this range right now as it is perfect for the season. I am not sure if it is still available, but if it is, do grab the Vanilla Chai range!

Have you tried the Vanilla Chai Range from The Body Shop?

Winter Skincare Routine for Face/Body/Lips feat. Himalaya Herbals

Winter Skincare Routine for Face/Body/Lips feat. Himalaya Herbals

Hi guys,

If you don’t already know, I have got a fracture and I have been on bed rest since the past three weeks. I am at my parents’ place and the only thing I carried along with me in terms of skincare is this Winter Bundle I got from Himalaya Herbals.

I am so glad that all the things I would need in this winter season are a part of this bundle. I have been using these since the past 3 weeks and let me tell you my thoughts..

Starting with body care, I have three body lotions from Himalaya

  • Himalaya Herbals Cocoa Butter Intensive Body Lotion (With Cocoa Butter & Wheat Germ Oil- for extra dry skin)
  • Himalaya Herbals Nourishing Body Lotion (With Aloe Vera & Winter Cherry- for normal skin)
  • Himalaya Herbals Soothing Body Lotion (With grape seed and almond oil- for dry skin)

Each one is priced at Rs.140/- for 200ml (Buy HERE)

They all come in the standard white Himalaya Herbals packaging with the green flip cap. They all have Hydra-Nutri Balance which is ‘Hydration’ i.e. locking skin’s moisture and increasing skin’s capacity to hold moisture and ‘Nutrition’ which is some ingredients that help benefit the skin. Each body lotion has different blend of ingredients, as per the skin type.

I don’t have very dry skin but it does get more dry during winters. Especially the hands and legs. I use the Nourishing or Soothing Body Lotion during the day time and the Cocoa Butter Intensive Body Lotion during the night time. My skin remains soft, supple and moisturized. It does not crave moisture and I don’t get white patches or flaky skin after few hours. I am really enjoying these body lotions and I would recommend the Cocoa Butter one for people with dry skin and the other two for normal skin.

Coming to the face creams, I have

  • Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream (Lightens Skin tone & UV Protection- with Licorice & White Dammer) MRP: Rs.250/- for 50g (Buy HERE)
  • Himalaya Herbals Revitalizing Night Cream (Restores moisture balance, nourishes & repairs- with White Lily & Tomato) MRP: Rs.200/- for 50g (Buy HERE)

Day Cream Claims:

Ingredients:

Night Cream Claims:

Ingredients:

They come in a clear glass jar packaging with a curved green cap and a white separator in between. The day cream is beige in color while the night cream is white. They both are super light in texture and doesn’t leave any greasy/heavy feeling. They get absorbed instantly. The day cream has a soft licorice smell while the night cream has a soft lily smell, as the ingredients in it.

The day cream also has Cinnabloc which helps in UV protection, but the SPF is not mentioned, so I would not advise skipping your sunscreen. Additional UV protection though is always welcome. It has licorice extracts which help in fading dark spots/acne scars and evening out your skin tone.

The Revitalizing Night Cream from Himalaya Herbals is one of my Holy Grail products, I have done a detailed review years ago HERE. It was my first night cream.

I absolutely love the affect of this cream on the skin overnight. In just 3-4 days, you will notice a difference in your skin. Both tomato and white lily are very good for your skin and it does make my skin very supple and plump, leaves it evenly moisturized and hydrated with no dry areas in the morning.

And there are two face and body creams, which work for both..

  • Himalaya Herbals Nourishing Skin Cream (Light & Non Greasy- with Indian Kino tree, Aloe Vera, Winter Cherry) MRP: Rs.125/- for 100ml (Buy HERE)
  • Himalaya Herbals Winter Defense Moisturizing Cream (Dry/Extra Dry Skin- with Jojoba Oil, Wheat Germ, Almond Oil) MRP: Rs.125/- for 100ml (Buy HERE)

These can be used for both face and body. I use the nourishing skin cream on my face & hands right after bath. It is not very heavy, but if you compare it to the day cream, then yes it is heavier. If you have dry skin, you would like this Nourishing Skin Cream more than the day cream, coz your skin will need more hydration.

And the Winter Defense Moisturizing Cream is very heavy, I would recommend using it for dry patches on the body like the knees and elbows and the feet. I love applying a thick layer of it on my feet and cover my feet with warm socks and keep them overnight. If you have cracked feet, this will help you in healing them. Do it daily for 7 days, and your feet will be super soft with no dryness or cracks.

Coming to the lips, I have..

  • Himalaya Herbals Natural Soft Vanilla Care (MRP: Rs.125/- for 4.5g- Buy HERE)
  • Himalaya Herbals Strawberry Shine Lip Care (MRP: Rs.125/- for 4.5g- Buy HERE)

They both come in a standard lip balm twist up packaging with matching caps. The vanilla one has white and beige vanilla-cocoa swirls on the inner tube. I love the way it looks and smells, absolutely love the soft and warm vanilla scent. It is clear and a perfect night time lip balm. It hydrates the lips overnight and keeps them soft through the day. I have super chapped lips, they are dry as a desert throughout the year and more so in winters. But thankfully this time around, these lip balms have kept me away from chapped and painful lips which I suffer from each winter.

Strawberry Shine one has a soft pink tint which is good for day time, not a fan of the scent of this one though.

I love the fact both Himalaya Herbals lip balms are free of mineral oil and petroleum jelly. I know most of us have used petroleum jelly for our lips before, but what it does is, it seals/locks the lips and does not allow the external moisture to reach the lips. Lips and the skin around eyes don’ have oil glands and cannot get moisturized (produce natural oils) on it’s own. So when it comes to lips, they start feeling dry and require constant application when petroleum jelly is used. I also read it in Dr. Rashmi Shetty’s book ‘Age Erase’ recently. She recommends beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter, etc. based lip balms, and hence these are absolutely perfect. You can feel these are free from mineral oil and petroleum jelly, the texture is very waxy and not oily.

Overall, I would say I am in love with most of these products and they are absolutely perfect for winters. I am only using these since the past three weeks and I have carried only these with me. Highly recommend them! My favourites are the day and night cream, body lotions and the vanilla lip balm.
