    Rose Quartz is a shade that would match your skin tone probably..it would not show up much on the skin..its more like a creamy highlighter but it does not have any sheen or shimmer..its matte..this would act more as a base for your powder blushes..

    Its quite pigmented..but not as creamy as the NYX Rouge Cream Blush..stays on for a good 4-5 hours..

    Pros:

    1. Liked the simple packaging..and comes with a mirror.
    2. These are quite pigmented.
    3. Stay on for a good 4-5 hours.
    4. These are not glossy or shiny like other cream blushes..so would suit oily skinned too.
    5. Economical.
    6. Travel friendly..as they have a mirror too..and you can easily blend them with fingers.
    7. This shade would act as a base for powder blushes or give some dewiness to the cheeks.

    Cons:
    1. This shade takes away the whole purpose of a blush !
    If you want your cheeks to be dewy sans any color..you can get this..or else I would not recommend this shade..I liked the shade Peach Glow the most..thats a nice peachy shade though with shimmer…I overall liked the quality and texture of these..

    Illamasqua’s Director of Product Development, David Horne, has 20 years’ experience as a catwalk make-up artist and is totally fearless when it comes to pushing the boundaries of beauty. As well as working with designers like Calvin Klein and Balenciaga and making up the faces of Erin O’Connor, Sophie Dahl and Karolina Kurkova, David has also lectured at the London College of Fashion and now heads up SOMUA – Illamasqua’s school of make-up art.

    I asked what colors he recommends for medium Asian skin with warm undertones and the fool proof way to do smokey eyes..

    Here is his answer..

    Hi Bhumika

    For your skintone always select colours with a yellow or olive undertone to look most natural, this would be amber, orange, caramel colours. If you choose blue-based colours they will be more dramatic and self-expressive. When doing smokey eyes always do this before your foundation to help you maintain a clean area under the eye. To lift underneath the smokey eye, try an apricot concealer tone or peach to lift the eye upwards.

    Some other questions and advices I liked..

    1) any tips to stop eyeshadow creasing?

    Always prepare the skin and start with a matte base to ensure your make-up has the best longevity.

    2) Illamasqua Powder Blush for Contouring?

    If you have a light to medium skinton you can try Heroine powder eyeshadow and use this as a cheek contour. If you prefer a cream to contour the cheeks try Hollow Cream Pigment. If you are a deeper skintone you can try Disobey powder blusher which is a mid-amber tone suitable for contouring.

    3) Hi Alex and David, What advice would you give to an artist who is naturally very shy? I’ve struggled with the social aspect of freelancing but have a very strong art sense. I don’t want to give up on my dream because I’m a bit of a wall flower. I could use some tips!

    Be confident in your ability and that confidence will help you open dialogue and interact in the settings you will come into contact with. Assist others who inspire you and also who will help you gain confidence. Even the people that seem the most outwardly confident are not always as they appear and like every circumstance, never judge a book by its cover – they are probably as nervous and scared as you may have felt at times.

    La Senza Pin Up Party and Store Launch


    La Senza, a premium lingerie brand from Canada,launched its 12th store in India at Phoenix Market City in Kurla yesterday…I was invited to the store launch and pin up party 😉

    I loved the DJ and the music..they created a whole club thing outside the store..

    There was a mad frenzy outside..with so many people and the media..I was better off inside the store 🙂

    Deepika Padukone inaugurated the store…and as soon as she came..the media people present went berserk..and there were 100 photographers, cameras and media people around her..she was not even visible as they had covered her all around 😀 But she is sooo tall that her head was still visible 🙂

    She was wearing a coral top and white palazzo pants..with a thin tan belt and a leopard print clutch..

    Also present were Zarine Khan, Natasha Suri, Nishka Lulla, Bani J, Pooja Chopra, Miss Malini and many other models..

    Illamasqua Sophie-I Collection Smoky Eye Technique

    How To Create The Sophie I

    The Sophie-I smoky eye technique allows you to not only express your individuality, but discover new depth and definition in your eyes.
    Created using the black Sophie Medium Pencil, the technique is inspired by The Sophie Lancaster Foundation,
    the charity Illamasqua supports, and £3 from every Sophie Pencil purchased is donated to the foundation.

    STEP ONE
    Sketch along the upper socket line with the creamy black Medium Pencil in Sophie. Then buff with an Illamasqua Eye Shadow Brush to create a soft, diffused line.
    You can even wear this step on its own, to create a striking look in a hurry with just one product.

    STEP TWO
    Take a pale neutral Powder Eye Shadow (we recommend Stealth) and gently press it to the centre of the eye lid, and underneath the brow bone for subtle highlight.

    STEP THREE
    With a charcoal black Powder Eye Shadow (try Machine) build over the previous black pencil line, working outwards and upwards.
    Then take an Illamasqua Blending Brush and blend the two Powder Eye Shadows together, ensuring there are no sharp lines.

    STEP FOUR
    Mix Sealing Gel with your black Powder Eye Shadow to create a colour intense, water-resistant paste. Taking a sharp Angled Eye Liner Brush apply the paste in a fine line along the upper lash line as a liquid eye liner.
    Artists’ Tip: You can also use this to redefine the original Sophie Pencil line along the socket for some serious drama.

    STEP FIVE
    Finish the look with a line of Sophie Medium Pencil
    along the lower lash line, a coating of midnight black Masquara in Raven and your favourite Illamasqua False Eye Lashes.

    What the Company claims: Street Wear All Day Wear Compact is oil-free compact that gives a flawless finish to your base makeup. It provides even skin tone and lightens the skin. You will get a smooth perfect finish.

    MRP: Rs. 195/- for 10g (Price was Rs. 165/- before)

    Shades available:

    • Blush Matte
    • Honey Matte
    • Natural Matte
    Key Ingredients: Nylon 12, Mineral Oil, Lanolin Alcohol, Titanium Dioxide

    Lakme Perfect Radiance costs Rs. 150/- for 8g. So comparatively they are almost the same..

    It comes in a dark blue round packaging with a mirror and a sponge..they have changed the packaging now to a square one. I have not seen the new packaging personally..but this packaging was not at all sturdy..I had dropped it once accidentally and now I have two parts of it 😀

    I have the shade Blush Matte..which matches my skin tone well. Its not powdery or the type that flies away every time one uses a powder brush. In fact I use a powder brush most of the times. Its packed well and quite densely..I am using it from more than a year..and still I am not able to finish it off :/

    It provides a matte finish as claimed and keeps skin oil free for 4-5 hours..it never feels dry or does not give dry patches on the skin..or make it look cakey.

    Pros:

    1. Quite like the medium coverage it gives..evens out skin tone and covers redness or spots decently well.
    2. Has Titanium Dioxide..which acts as a sunscreen.
    3. Good enough quantity.
    4. Decently priced for the quantity.
    5. Shades would suit the Indian skin tones well.
    6. Does not give dry patches or cakey look.

    Cons:

    1. Street Wear is not easily available.
    2. Only the Key Ingredients are mentioned.
    3. This packaging is not sturdy enough.
    4. Contains Mineral Oil..which might not be suitable for some..

    Overall I do like it..the coverage it gives and the finish is good enough for me..and suitable for daily use..I would say its worth trying.
