Elle 18 Makeup Range Review, Swatches, FOTD

I had mentioned about the all new Elle 18 Makeup range HERE. Today I am doing a short review and look with the new Elle 18 range..

The Glow Foundation 

An every-day silky delicate texture foundation with SPF 8 and fragments of a gentle moisturizer that blends into your  skin to give a bright radiant finish and is available in 4 shades. The glow foundation is your instant beauty fix right before your class presentation, college fest or even a simple party in the evening. 

Price: Rs. 150 (30 ml) Shades: Pearl, Coral, Marble and Shell

The foundation comes in a tube packaging..its easy to use and carry along..and blends really well..the coverage is sheer though..more like a tinted moisturiser..I got the shade Shell which is slightly yellow and darker for me..but on blending, it did not look dark or yellow..I think its pretty good for daily use..and at 150 bucks, I am not complaining.

The Glow Compact 

The Matte Compact is slim and easy to carry and it smoothens and moisturizes the skin at the same time protecting it from pollution. Whether it’s a party you are excited to go to or the college fest you want to be part of, the Glow Compact gives you that extra ‘oomph’ to dazzle everyone with your radiance. 

Price: Rs. 150 (9 gm) Shades: Pearl, Coral, Marble and Shell

I think this is the highlight if this range..the compact comes with a mirror and powder puff..and 9g is super huge qty and at a humble price of Rs.150/- ! It is silky, smooth in texture and keeps the skin matte. I got the shade Marble which suits me perfectly..and covers up for the slightly darker foundation when layered..I did highly recommend this ! Does not pinch your pockets at all and does its job amazingly well.

The Juicy Lip Balm 

A lip balm is the quintessential beauty must have for the young woman of today.  The Elle 18 Juicy Balm is a non-sticky balm with Vitamin E, Olive, oil and Jojoba oil to ensure nourishing, soft and smooth lips.  The juicy lip balm is the perfect combination of colour and care to ensure you have lip smacking pouts always. 

Price: Rs. 110 (9 ml) Shades: Pink, Red, Mauve, Berry, Beige and Peach 

I got the shade Juicy Berry..it comes in a tube packaging with a slanted applicator..Juicy Berry is a nice coral pink shade..it comes up sheer..but does moisturise the lips well..good for some color and moisturisation in winters..since its in liquid form, it makes the lips look all luscious and juicy..I only wish it was a little more pigmented.

The Elle 18 Colour Pop Liner 

Four new exciting shades have been added to the Colour Pop range to ensure that you never face a dull day in college. Brighten your eyes with these magnificent tones and wink your way to an A on your next assignment. 

Price: Rs. 75 (5 ml) Shades: Green, Brown, Grey and Blue

It comes in a small round glass bottle..just like the nail paints and eyeliner..which they have previously too. The bristles of the brush are not even and that makes application a little difficult..and its quiet sheer and needs a lot of layering for it to show up properly..pretty ok..good for someone who wants to try different colored liquid liners on a budget !

I did a look with them..and I am quite surprised by the outcome..coz it looked pretty good..this can also be a look using only 5 products..I used the above four Elle 18 products and just some kohl on the waterline..thats it..

I love how the range is super affordable..and perfect for college going girls ! Beauty on a budget ? Check out Elle 18..I am sure you would love some of these..

I generally have it with my buttermilk after lunch or dinner..I have it once a day..


You definitely see the results in 7 days..any acne marks get lighter, skin feels plumper and smoother..This one tin would last one month approx..

My only issue was..I, being a vegetarian, would not be able to bear any smell or taste of fish..and as I read and also was told that it has no taste or smell..I agreed to trying this..

But let me tell you, there is definitely a slight after taste and smell to it…if you are a pure vegetarian, I would say be prepared or else do not try it.

Another thing is it does not get mixed completely, howmuchever you try and forms lumps, which needs to be broken and mixed properly.

The effect of it lasts as long as you are having it..obviously your skin will not glow on forever with one tin ! Though it does not go away suddenly or completely..since its an internal change..

I recommend this for people above 35-40 who have started developing wrinkles and girls who have got some special occasion coming up…this is perfect for that extra boost and glow.

Book Review: The Homing Pigeons by Sid Bahri

In the middle of the catastrophic 2008 recession, Aditya, a jobless, penniless man meets an attractive stranger in a bar, little does he know that his life will change forever…..

When Radhika, a young, rich widow, marries off her stepdaughter, little does she know that the freedom that she has yearned for is not exactly how she had envisioned it…..


They say Homing Pigeons always come back to their mate, no matter where you leave them on the face of this earth. Homing Pigeons is the story of love between these two unsuspecting characters as it is of lust, greed, separations, prejudices and crumbling spines.

The theme of this novel is ‘not all love stories are perfect but then, neither are people.’ 

The name and theme is just apt for the book..though its a debut novel for Sid Bahri, he definitely comes out like a pro.


The story is about Aditya and Radhika, their lives, their childhood, how they met, how they separated..and times and again met and separated..to finally meet at the end..which is quiet predictable from the name of the book..


But how..is all the crux..how their lives keep on changing..one chapter is narrated from the perspective of Radhika and another of Aditya..and they keep on going in the flashback in between..there are a few times when the whole chapter is in flashback and then suddenly comes to the present in the next..it could have left many confused..but the author manages to make it a good interesting read without confusing the readers..

Though the end is predictable, how everything happens is what brings out the curiosity in you and keeps you on the edge to keep on reading more..you would not feel like giving up the book unless you read what next !

Quiet an interesting read I would say ! Highly recommended..great work Sid !

Today I am reviewing Avon Gold Mesh Bracelet which I got as a gift from Avon.
The bracelet comes in a square box that has a black sponge covered with black velvet cloth on which Bracelet is tied.

Every Avon Jewellery comes with a Guarantee Card and it covers of 6 –Months Guarantee. You can change your jewellery if in case it has damage or it is defective.

The bracelet is made up of flat round soft rivets which is in golden color. On one end it has a long chain and other had it has a lobster clasp lock which you can tie up according to you wrist size.  The bracelet is convertible you can use both sides.

It is super classy and so chic that you can team up with any outfit. It will jazz up the whole attire.
I really like this bracelet…the best thing it can be worn both ways..

Glamorous 12 Color Eye Shadow Palette ‘St. Tropez’- Swatches, Review& EOTD

Hi Girls,

Today I’m going to review a 12 eyeshadow palette which super super affordable from a brand called Glamorous. I got it in the shade ‘St. Tropez’ and lets start with the review

Product Description
Glamorous 12 Color Eye Shadow is the perfect way to try out that hot new look! Each palette has four exciting color schemes and is offered in a variety of combinations. Our eye shadow is specifically designed for every woman’s unique skin complexity. Applicator included for on-the-go touchups.

Price: $6 for 10gms

Packaging

The palette comes in a rectangular plastic packaging with a transparent lid on top. Inside it contains 12 eyshadows with a double ended sponge applicator. The applicator is pretty ‘meh’ but it is good enough to be used for touch ups. The packaging does feel a little flimsy but shuts tightly so you can easily carry it in your purse

Texture & Shades

The texture of the eyeshadows is pretty much a mixed bad. The darker color are very soft and smooth while the lighter shades are a very hard and gritty. Its hard to get enough product on the brush to apply it so I’m not at all happy with the texture.

The palette contains a gorgeous array of shades from pretty neutrals to pinks, purples and light blues. You can easily create a complete eyemakeup look as it has lid colors, darker crease shades as well as highlighting shades

Pigmentation & Staying Power

Oh God! The pigmentation of these is absolutely terrible. The swatches you see in the pic are the result of hard labour of swatching them again and again! :p I think I must’ve swiped them 5-6 times to make them show up on my skin. Only the orange and purples are decently pigmented but the rest just do not show up!These do have better pigmentation with a base underneath but it still requires alot of effort to work with these.

It also lacks in staying power which is such a huge bummer coz I really liked the shades in this palette. It stays put for 2-3 hours after which it totally vanishes. I have’nt applied these without a base because umm they just don’t show up :p

Pros

1)Has a nice variety of shades
2)Comes with a sponge applicator easing touch ups
3)Super Cheap

Cons
1)Gritty and hard texture
2)Bad Pigmentation
3)Bad Staying Power

Recommended? Umm no! Sure the palette is very cheap but it is very hard to work with. It pretty much lacks in all aspects and I can’t recommend this at all.

Editor’s note: Ooo..sad that its lacks in pigmentation and staying power..the shades are gorgeous and it would have been an awesome palette if pigmented..but loved your EOTD !

Today I’m going to review a beautiful lipstick from Avon which is extremely affordable and of high quality. The lipstick in question is Avon Simply Pretty ‘Fresh Rose’.

Product Description:

• Blissful medium to full color finish with added natural moisturizing complex that help retain moisture and improve suppleness
• Contains Vitamin E
• Glides on smoothly, makes lips look instantly softer and smoother
• Feels lightweight and non-sticky

Price: Rs 169/- for 4gms

Packaging
The lipstick is packaged in a bright purple packaging with the shade name mentioned at the bottom. The bullet of the lipstick has ‘LOVE” embossed on it which looks oh so cute. The cap of the lipstick shuts tightly making it travel friendly. I’m not necessarily fond of the packaging but at this price I can’t complain.

Shade
Fresh Rose looks very brown in the bullet but upon swatching it is a beautiful rosy pink with a hint of brown. This is one shade that will suit every complexion beautifully and I’ve fallen in love with the shade.

Texture 
The lipstick is extremely creamy and soft. It adequately hydrates my dry lips and applies evenly. Despite the creamy texture it does not bleed or feather. After a few hours it does tend to settle into fine lines so make sure you apply a lip balm underneath.

Pigmentation & Staying Power
Fresh Rose is well pigmented and 2 swipes gives a good color pay off. It will easily cover pigmentation of lips and you can always tone it down by blotting it.

The staying power is superb and it stays put for 4-5 hours. It easily survives small meals and snacks but does require a touch up after a full meal. I didn’t expect such high staying power considering its price and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

1. A beautiful rosy pink that will suit all complexions
2. Creamy and moisturizing texture
3. Well pigmented
4. Superb staying power

Cons

Final Recommendation: Avon’s Fresh Rose is a beautiful rosy pink and will flatter all complexions. It has a nice creamy texture with good staying power. Also, it is extremely affordable and I highly recommend it!

Shampoo is light yellow in color with very minute shiny shimmer..has an amazing smell !

The shampoo foams really well..in one wash, hair is thoroughly cleansed..and feels smooth and with minimum tangles..

Conditioner is very creamy yellow in color and smells amazing too..and does make hair softer..

I loved it..it actually makes hair smooth and shiny..not mirror like shine obviously..I hope no one was expecting that 😀 But, definitely a nice healthy sheen.

Pros:

1. Shampoo and Conditioner both smell amazing.
2. Makes hair softer and smoother.
3. Gives a nice healthy sheen to the hair.
4. Economical.
5. Easily available.
6. Creamy conditioner hydrates the hair well..they do not feel dry as with some conditioners..
7. Both shampoo and conditioner have Argon, Jojoba, Camellia, Almond and Olive oils.

Cons:

1. Has SLS and SLES.

I know its not exactly something that would control your dandruff or hair fall, but its not even claiming that..no cons for me except for sulphates..coz it works amazingly well..currently my HG ! Highly recommended.
