Red Carpet Tips and Tricks

Namrata Soni has a reputation for transforming A-list actors into red carpet stunners. Her signature look of fresh dewy skin and pretty pink pouts has earned her many fans in the tinsel town including the likes of Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Sharma and even an IIFA award. She shares her top five tips and tricks to rock a red carpet appearance like a Bollywood pro.

Red Pout: “Nothing is more red carpet appropriate than a red pout,” says Soni. “Choose a red lipstick that suits your skin tone and fill in only after defining your lips with a red liner. Thin lips need not worry. Create an illusion of fuller lips with some high shine gloss. Swipe two coats in the center of the bottom and the upper lip for a bee-stung effect.”

Camera-ready: “Strategic placement of highlighter is very important when you know that camera flash will be attacking you from every angle. Dust an iridescent gold or pearl coloured highlighter on your cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose and on the chin to capture light perfectly and use your facial contours to full advantage. For an all-over gorgeous sheen, add powder bronzer to baby oil and smooth over exposed skin.

Flawless Face: “Flash can be very unforgiving and the biggest mistake you can commit is skipping the foundation altogether and applying only concealer on your problem spots. Foundation is important even if you have great skin and few minor flaws. It creates an even base for you to work on and camouflage flaws to perfection.”

Fake Drama: “False eyelashes create drama and are a must for any red carpet look. Whether you’re rocking a red lip or a bright pop pout, false lashes is all you need to add oomph and balance your look. Cut and customize false lashes to your lash line and don’t forget to apply liner to fill in any gaps and blend the real and false lashes seamlessly. Apply two coats of volumising mascara and you’re ready to flutter your eyes for the shutterbugs.”

So Slick: “If you don’t have enough time for a wash and blow-dry, use this secret tip that I swear by to transform a bad hair day into glamorously, swishy locks. Smooth over some MorocccanOil for shine and tame flyways and pull hair into a side ponytail or a low, tight knot. These sleek and sophisticated hairstyles make any outfit look put together and takes my celebrity clients from a shoot to stardom in no time.”
