Remember the Lakme Beautiful Brides Contest I wrote about here…which was held in February.

Lakmé Salon had run a contest in February 2012 for brides to be. Shanya from Allahabad was the bride who won a lehenga worth Rs. 1 lakh from Ritu Kumar and a stunning makeover by Lakmé Salon. The look created for her was only something that every bride dreams of.

Celebrating the eternally beautiful Indian Bride, Lakmé Salon ran a contest earlier this year where the winning bride would get a complementary makeover on D day by Lakmé Salon, a beautiful lehenga worth Rs. 1 lakh from Ritu Kumar wedding photography organized by Lakmé Salon as well exciting Lakme Hampers.

The winning bride Shanya from Allahabad was treated like a complete princess when she stepped into Lakmé Salon got her bridal look on her big day. Her hair and make-up was styled by Jaya Mishra, a veteran make-up artist who has been with Lakmé Salon, Allahabad for 7 years. Shanya came in like most brides with a particular look in mind. A beautiful bride even before the make-up began, her clear and even-toned complexion posed as the perfect canvas for Jaya to showcase her creativity.

Shanya, the bride while commending Lakmé Salon said, “The Lakmé Salon team was thorough with their consultation and they completely understood the way I wanted to look like on my big day. The bride wanted a Persian look & feel with her make-up. Influenced by the Middle East and their fondness for pronounced and pouty lips; mesmerizing, dark kohls and flair with metallic shades, Jaya began work on the make-up by first guiding Shanya through process with a complete consultation – taking into consideration her outfit, her skin tone and her personal needs. She carefully selected a colour palette that complimented the bridal outfit and skin tone – an earthy red-orange tinge for the perfect pout and lip contouring and a red tint eye shadow, carefully dusted with bronzers that made her eyes sparkle. Jaya drew inspiration from recent trends and Shanya’s desired look; and added winged tips to the deep black kohl liner that defined the bride’s eyes.

This year the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival is being held from 16th May to the 27th May 2012. 2012 is especially significant to L’oreal Paris as its celebrating a 15 year partnership with the Film Festival as its official Make Up artiste.

Pick Purple is a gorgeous bluish purple

Dream is an peachy yellow gold..not exactly like MAC Ricepaper..but on similar grounds..looks amazing as an highlighter and in inner corners..and all over the lid too.

Coastal is an amazing cool toned brown..perfect for smokey brown eyes..and for crease work too.

Chambrelle is a metallic cool silvery white…works good as a highlighter.

These are super duper pigmented..all swatches are just 2 swipes without a primer. Buttery smooth in texture..and stay put all day long..though I use an eye shadow base..

These are refills and some shades are available in this refill packaging only..some are available with the whole black outer packaging..but that increases the cost by 5$.

Indoors

I like the refill packaging too..its made of thick paper..and there is an inner folded paper where the eye shadow is snugly fit in the centre..and does not move.

Pros:

1. Super duper pigmented.
2. Buttery smooth texture.
3. Can be used both wet and dry.
4. Organic and yet works well.
5. Stays put whole day.
6. No creasing or fading and no fall outs.
7. Some 10-11 shades to choose from..and there are both darker shades which make some amazing smokey eyes and lighter highlight shades.

Cons:

1. Expensive.
2. Not available here. You can buy it here. But the shipping :sigh:

Now since this is organic and yet works amazingly well on the make up front..it is used by many actresses too..plus since it is a brand made by a make up artist.

I loved these shadows..Coastal and Dream are my absolute favorites followed by Pick Purple and Chambrelle. These are some super pigmented, very fine and smooth, long staying and organic eye shadows. If you live in Canada, you should surely try this..here are the stores where its available.

The naturally derived White Lily extract enhances whitening from within. In addition, it effectively promotes lightening of dark spots via the effective action of Retinol in the epidermis. Double your skin’s whitening power for even-toned lasting healthy fairness. This breakthrough high penetrating formula penetrates beneath the skin surface and helps deactivate melanin production at the source for a renewed visibly brightened skin tone.

Directions: Use 1-2 times a day after cleansing. Lightly massage in to boost penetration. Close pump after each use. (It oxidizes if left open)

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs. 599/- for 30ml

Its a white colored bottle with a silver top and a plastic cap. Its a pump dispensor..so quite easy to use..you need just 1 pump..or max two pumps for the entire face..but since it has retinol..many do not use it all over the face..just on dark spots or problem areas. I like using serums..some how they work better and deeper for me..than just moisturisers..

Its a light yellow colored liquid..if you have used a serum..you would know the texture..not exactly like a lotion nor like a gel..some where in between..has a sweet smell similar to all Neutrogena products..I just pat it on..and restrict it to use at night..since it has retinol..which makes the skin sensitive..if you use it at day time..make sure you use a high SPF sunscreen..

You might experience some itching for a few minutes after application coz of the retinol..do not fret..some even experienced peeling of the skin in the first week..but skin was brighter and better the next week..depends on how your skin reacts to retinol..do a test patch first if you like..

Pros:

1. Does lighten dark spots and makes the skin more even toned..but not an overnight effect..takes 2-3 weeks for the difference to show up. But if you are suffering from dark spots, you should surely give this a try.

2. Skin is more brightened when used all over..I have used it both ways..but I prefer using it on dark spots more..as I do not want to use retinol all over.

3. Non comedogenic and oil free.

4. Did not break me out..but there is some itching for a few minutes.

5. It does what it claims.

6. The quantity lasts long.

Cons:

1. Has parabens, phenoxyethanol and silicones.

2. May not suit sensitive and dry skin.

3. Skin does need added moisturisation.

Overall I did like it..and the brightening effect it gives to the skin. I did not have many dark spots..but it makes the skin more even toned..if you suffer from dark spots..this might help. But I do not recommend it for dry or sensitive skin.

It was a rainy day at Cannes..for the premiere of Michael Haneke’s Amour, or Love in English…but still glamour was at its high !



28-year-old singer dazzled in a dramatic white and red feathered dress by Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture..She teamed the dramatic gown with bright red nails and a small matching clutch bag…those diamond earrings are gorgeous !

Love her smokey eyes, nude lips and bronzed, contoured cheeks…so glam !!

Diane Kruger looked gorgeous too in her sparkling silver gown..

I guess many of you must have seen this movie by now..I happened to see it twice..not that I loved it so much..but had to accompany a friend..I found the movie ok..but did not like the ending obviously..Loved the songs..’Main Pareshaan’ is so hummable and nice..and ‘Hua Chokra Jawaan Re’ :p

Parineeti is sans make up in most of the scenes especially after the interval..just her smudged kohl..lots of it..on the waterline and lower lashline..(She plays a Muslim character in the movie). Her dark circles are quite visible in some scenes..but she is blessed with a good skin..so looks quite natural and believable.

Her look was very natural and fresh in the starting scenes…She does not sport much of color on the face or any fancy hair dos..but a very girl next door kinda look.

Tips to achieve the look:

  • Dab concealer to hide blemishes and dark circles.
  • Light touch of Tinted Moisturiser
  • Wash of chocolate brown eye shadow all over the lids. (In some scenes she had no eye shadow at all)
  • Lots of kajal on the waterline and lower lash line and smudge it with a Q tip or ring finger
  • Tightline the eyes with a black eye pencil.
  • A very thin layer of a liquid liner close to the upper lash line.
  • Apply 1-2 coats of a lengthening mascara.
  • Fill in your brows with a brown eye shadow.
  • She did not sport any blush or highlighter..a hint of a peachy pink blush in the starting scenes.
  • Soft pink tinted lip balm or a touch of MLBB peachy brown shade for the lips.
Of course you can add her black waist coat with a smiley badge (that was cute!)
